A shocking case has emerged in Santa Ana, California, where an Indian-origin woman killed 11-year-old son at a motel after a three-day trip to Disneyland.
The accused, 48-year-old Saritha Ramaraju, has been charged with one felony count of murder and an additional charge for using a knife in the crime. If convicted, she faces a sentence of 26 years to life in prison, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
A Custody Battle Turns Tragic
Saritha Ramaraju had been living in Fairfax, Virginia, following her divorce from her husband, Prakash Raju, in 2018. She no longer resided in California but had visitation rights as part of a custody agreement. In March, she planned a three-day trip to Disneyland with her son, Yatin Ramaraju, whom she had been fighting to gain custody of.
Reports indicate that Ramaraju had long been contesting the custody arrangement, accusing her ex-husband of making unilateral decisions regarding their son’s education and health.
