A shocking Human Egg Harvesting racket involving around 100 women has been uncovered in the former Soviet nation of Georgia. The operation, run by Chinese gangsters, came to light after three Thai women were rescued by a Thailand-based NGO.
The victims were lured in with false promises of high-paying jobs and later forced into a horrifying cycle of exploitation. This case has exposed the dark underbelly of human trafficking and the unregulated reproductive industry, raising global concerns about ethical violations and human rights abuses.
False Promises and Entrapment
The entire operation began with deceit. Women were targeted through social media advertisements that offered them lucrative salaries ranging between Rs 10 lakh (11,500 euros) and Rs 15 lakh (17,000 euros).
The job offer claimed they would work as surrogates for Georgian couples struggling with infertility. This promise seemed like a life-changing opportunity, leading many women to accept the offer without hesitation.
The gang behind the operation ensured a seamless process, covering all travel expenses, including passports and visas, to gain the trust of the victims. However, upon arriving in Georgia, the women quickly realized they had been trapped.
Instead of being provided with legitimate employment, they were taken to four large properties, where they were held captive alongside nearly 100 other women. Their passports were confiscated, and any attempts to leave were met with threats and coercion.

The situation turned even grimmer when the women were forced to undergo repeated medical procedures against their will. They were injected with hormones to stimulate ovulation, ensuring a continuous supply of eggs for the illegal trade. The victims were left with no choice but to comply, as they had no means of escape or financial support to buy their freedom.
The Dark Reality of Forced Human Egg Harvesting
The process of egg harvesting is both invasive and painful, and in this case, it was carried out under horrifying conditions. According to the testimony of one of the rescued victims, the women were injected with hormone treatments and anesthetized before their eggs were extracted through a machine.
These extractions occurred as frequently as once a month, causing severe health complications and psychological trauma among the victims. Unlike legitimate fertility clinics that follow strict medical guidelines, these women were treated as nothing more than egg-producing machines.

There was no regard for their health, consent, or well-being. Many of them suffered from physical pain, hormonal imbalances, and long-term reproductive health issues due to the repeated procedures.

It is believed that the collected eggs were trafficked and sold in other countries for use in in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments. The high demand for donor eggs in the fertility market made this a profitable black-market operation.
However, the lack of regulations and ethical oversight in the reproductive industry allowed such a cruel scheme to persist undetected for a long time.
Global Reaction and the Call for Stricter Regulations
The revelation of this egg-harvesting racket has sparked outrage on social media and among human rights activists. Many have demanded immediate action to regulate the reproductive industry and prevent such human rights violations from occurring in the future.
The exploitation of vulnerable women for profit highlights the urgent need for strict international laws governing egg donation and surrogacy. One social media user expressed their concern, stating, “Regulate this now! There should be a solid background check of where donor eggs come from.”

Another added, “The dark and shady side of surrogacy. Truly heartbreaking what these women may have undergone.” The public outcry reflects the growing awareness of the hidden dangers of unregulated fertility markets and the need for stringent measures to combat human trafficking.
Thai authorities have launched an investigation into the case, working to identify and dismantle the network responsible for the illegal trade. Surapan Thaiprasert, commander of the Foreign Affairs Division of the Royal Thai Police, has assured the public that efforts are being made to bring justice to the victims and hold the perpetrators accountable.
However, the extent of the damage caused by this operation remains unknown, as many women are still trapped in similar situations worldwide.
The exposure of this criminal network serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of human trafficking and the vulnerabilities faced by women seeking better opportunities. The global community must take collective action to establish stricter laws, improve oversight in the fertility industry, and ensure that no woman is subjected to such inhumane treatment again.
