Lingling, a woman from Jiangxi province in southeastern China, never imagined that her pursuit of beauty would turn into a life-altering nightmare. In 2017, she was introduced to an innovative breast augmentation technique that promised natural and safe results.
The procedure was marketed as using her own collagen, cultivated and reinjected into her body, ensuring no risk of rejection. The claims made by the Beijing Creating Medical Cosmetic Clinic seemed promising, and the head surgeon, Bai Jin, assured her of its safety.
Trusting the clinic’s reputation, Lingling decided to proceed with the surgery, unaware of the devastating consequences that awaited her. After the procedure, Lingling began experiencing persistent pain and an unusual sensation in her breasts. The discomfort soon escalated into serious medical complications, including swelling, deformation, and leakage of an unknown substance.
Over the next six years, she endured nine surgeries, attempting to correct the damage done by the initial implant. Each procedure added to her financial burden, ultimately costing her 2.39 million yuan. Despite all efforts, by 2023, her condition worsened, with large lumps forming on her chest and reaching down to her stomach.
A Shocking Revelation: DNA of Cattle and Moose Leave
Seeking answers, Lingling turned to a hospital in Shanghai, where doctors removed and tested the implants. The results were horrifying. The so-called “self-derived” implants contained DNA from cattle and moose, directly contradicting the clinic’s claims.
This revelation not only exposed the fraudulent practices of the Beijing Creating Medical Cosmetic Clinic but also highlighted the severe health risks posed by unregulated cosmetic procedures.

Medical experts explained that non-human DNA in implants can trigger immune reactions, leading to severe complications. The material used in Lingling’s procedure had caused significant bodily damage, making her condition irreversible.

As a result, an authoritative medical institution classified her breast deformity as a severe disability, affecting her both physically and psychologically. The trauma of the experience left Lingling struggling with immense pain and emotional distress, as she grappled with the reality that her pursuit of beauty had permanently altered her life.
The Collapse of the Clinic and Lingling’s Struggle for Justice
Desperate for justice, Lingling sought compensation from the clinic that had deceived her. However, she soon discovered that both the Beijing Creating Medical Cosmetic Clinic and the beauty salon that referred her had shut down.
Investigations revealed that the clinic had been involved in 398 medical malpractice disputes, leading to the revocation of its business license. Additionally, the head surgeon, Bai Jin, was found to be unregistered with medical authorities, meaning he had no legal authorization to perform surgeries.

Lingling reported the case to the Beijing Municipal Health Commission on March 1, hoping to hold those responsible accountable. However, because the involved institutions had already closed, she faced significant legal challenges in seeking redress.
The situation exposed a troubling loophole in China’s cosmetic surgery industry, where unscrupulous clinics often close down to evade responsibility, only to reopen under different names.
Many social media users voiced their frustration over the lack of regulation, with some pointing out that thousands of women might have unknowingly undergone similar procedures with dangerous materials.
The Dark Side of the Beauty Industry and Its Psychological Impact
The shocking case of Lingling has sparked widespread discussion on Chinese social media, amassing over 37 million views. Many have expressed concern over the rising influence of appearance anxiety, which pushes individuals to undergo risky cosmetic procedures in pursuit of unrealistic beauty standards.
Critics argue that the beauty industry thrives on exploiting insecurities, often promoting unsafe treatments under the guise of innovation.

Some online users questioned why Lingling had spent such a massive sum on surgery instead of investing in a healthy lifestyle. Others emphasized the need for stricter regulations to prevent fraudulent clinics from taking advantage of vulnerable individuals.
Industry insiders revealed that similar cases have surfaced, with other patients discovering traces of camel, bat, and gorilla DNA in their implants. These findings highlight the alarming extent of malpractice in the unregulated cosmetic surgery sector.
Lingling’s tragic experience serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of trusting unverified beauty treatments. While cosmetic procedures can offer life-enhancing results when performed by licensed professionals, the lack of oversight in certain parts of the industry has led to devastating consequences.
For Lingling, what started as a journey toward self-improvement ended in a lifelong struggle with disability, pain, and emotional suffering. As authorities continue their investigations, her case remains a grim reminder of the risks associated with unregulated cosmetic surgeries and the urgent need for consumer protection in the beauty industry.
