Pudding’s family, led by a 79-year-old patriarch identified only as A, was among the victims. Their social media post explained their decision to take in the dog: “We determined that it was unsafe for the dog to roam the village without a caretaker. After contacting the grieving family at the funeral, we decided to protect the dog until a suitable guardian can be found.”
