Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man, has officially added the Boeing 737 MAX 9 to his impressive private jet fleet, making it India’s most expensive private aircraft. Valued at approximately Rs 1,000 crore, this ultra-long-range business jet further solidifies Ambani’s status as a global business leader with one of the world’s finest private aircraft collections.
The Boeing 737 MAX 9 recently arrived in India after undergoing extensive modifications and tests, joining a fleet of nine other private jets owned by Reliance Industries.
Modifications in Switzerland
The Boeing 737 MAX 9 acquired by Mukesh Ambani was significantly modified and upgraded at the EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) in Switzerland. From April 2023, the aircraft underwent comprehensive interior and cabin modifications, designed to meet Ambani’s high standards for luxury and functionality.
During its time in Switzerland, the jet completed several test flights between Basel, Geneva, and London Luton airports to ensure all upgrades were operational.
The final journey from Basel to Delhi on August 27, 2024, marked the aircraft’s official entry into India. Covering a distance of over 6,234 kilometers, the Boeing 737 MAX 9 made a nine-hour flight before arriving at Delhi Airport on August 28. Currently parked at a maintenance apron near the cargo terminal, the aircraft is expected to head to Mumbai, where Reliance Industries’ headquarters are located.
