A Memorable Experience for Pilgrims: First View of Kailash Peak from Indian Territory

Among the first batch of five pilgrims were Neeraj Manohar Lal Chowksey and Mohini Neeraj Chowksey from Bhopal, who expressed their overwhelming joy at witnessing the abode of their deity.

Neeraj Chowksey expressed gratitude to the government for the launch of this route, highlighting how it would serve as a boon for Shiva devotees worldwide.

Another pilgrim, Amandeep Kumar Jindal from Chandigarh, felt fortunate to witness the clear view of Mount Kailash due to favorable weather conditions. Such heartfelt sentiments reflect the deep spiritual connection many have with this sacred mountain.

The viewpoint from which Mount Kailash is now visible was discovered by a team from Uttarakhand Tourism, BRO, and ITBP just a few months prior. This discovery led to the necessary preparations to initiate a comprehensive package tour, allowing pilgrims to pay homage to Mount Kailash, Adi Kailash, and Om Parvat—all from Indian soil.

The Significance of Kailash in Hindu Tradition

According to Hindu scriptures, there are five sacred abodes of Lord Shiva. Out of these, three are located in Himachal Pradesh—Kinnaur Kailash, Mani Mahesh, and Shrikhand Mahadev—while Adi Kailash resides in Uttarakhand.

The remaining sacred peak, Mount Kailash, is situated in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. This new pilgrimage route brings Mount Kailash closer to Indian devotees, making it more accessible.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that the opening of this darshan route from Indian territory demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing spiritual tourism.

He congratulated all departments involved in the project, noting that now, Shiva devotees no longer need to wait for their turn to embark on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Instead, they can pay their respects and witness the magnificent peak directly from Indian soil.

The launch of the ‘Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil’ package marks a significant milestone for Uttarakhand Tourism and a remarkable opportunity for Shiva devotees.

With this initiative, pilgrims can now experience the first view of Kailash Peak from Indian territory, enriching their spiritual journey and connecting with their faith in a new and meaningful way.

The initiative reflects the dedication of the Uttarakhand government to promote pilgrimage tourism and provide devotees with accessible avenues to experience their sacred sites.
