Peter Gray, a 35-year-old serial romance fraudster from Mirfield, West Yorkshire, has been sentenced to an additional 28 months in prison for defrauding an ex-partner and a male friend from his golf club.
This sentence comes on top of the 56 months he was already serving for conning four women out of approximately £80,000. Gray’s calculated deceit involved manipulating women he met through the dating app Tinder, gaining their trust, and exploiting their financial resources for his own gain.

Additionally, he used her credit card without permission and even borrowed £2,000 from her brother to buy her an engagement ring—only for the ring to turn out to be worth a mere £35.

What made Gray’s deception even more devastating for his victim was the manner in which she discovered the truth. A former employer of Peter Gray advised her to use Clare’s Law, a legal provision that allows individuals to check whether their partners have a history of domestic abuse or criminal activity.
