In a harrowing and chilling case unfolding in North Carolina, arrest made after Brother-Sister Duo Kidnaps Woman and her infant daughter after an apparent extortion attempt gone wrong.

The crime has not only shocked the local community but has also drawn national attention due to the severity of the incident, the family connections of the suspects, and the brazen nature of the demands.

What began as a terrifying night for one family quickly turned into a multi-agency manhunt involving the Garner Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI.

Brother-Sister Duo Kidnaps Woman and Her 11 Month Old

Late on Monday night, residents of Garner, a quiet town in Wake County, North Carolina, were left stunned by the violent invasion of a home that resulted in the kidnapping of a young mother and her 11-month-old daughter.

According to reports from the Garner Police Department, three masked individuals—two men and one woman—forcefully entered the home of Eliuth Alejandro Martinez. All three were armed with guns and demanded $1 million from the family, suggesting a targeted attack rather than a random burglary.

The suspects, later identified as Miguel Angel Duran Duran, 23, his sister Paola Duran Duran, 25, and a third man, Eleodoro “Leo” Estrada-Hernandez, 37, tied Eliuth Alejandro Martinez up with duct tape when he failed to meet their demand for money.

They then abducted his wife, 26-year-old Alondra Michelle Benitez De Jesus, and their baby, Grecia Salome Alejandro-Benitez. The trio fled the scene in a black Nissan Altima, triggering an immediate search operation.

As the search expanded, law enforcement officers worked tirelessly to locate the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice. Just hours after the abduction, the mother and child were found safe.

They had managed to escape and fled to a nearby home in Wake Forest, where the residents quickly called 911. The homeowners’ swift response may have prevented further harm and played a crucial role in the resolution of the crisis.

Swift Arrests, Charges Filed, and Manhunt for Remaining Suspect

Following the victims’ recovery, law enforcement agencies moved rapidly to track down the suspects. With the cooperation of local, state, and federal agencies, authorities were able to arrest Miguel Angel Duran Duran and Paola Duran Duran within 24 hours of the kidnapping. The siblings were apprehended without incident and are now in police custody. Their quick arrest highlights the efficiency and coordination between multiple enforcement agencies.

The charges against the Duran Duran siblings are severe. Both face two felony counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of second-degree kidnapping.

During their initial court appearance via video conference from jail, the judge informed them of the gravity of the charges, stating they could face a minimum of 231 months—more than 19 years—in prison if convicted.

Due to their immigration status and the serious nature of the charges, both suspects are being held without bond. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers were issued for the siblings, who are believed to be Mexican nationals. Authorities also determined they posed a significant flight risk, which factored into the decision to deny bail.

However, not all the suspects have been captured. Eleodoro Estrada-Hernandez remains at large, prompting the FBI to issue a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. He is described as being 5-foot-4 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Estrada-Hernandez has multiple tattoos on his forearm and was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans. In addition to kidnapping charges, he also faces charges of assault by pointing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Estrada-Hernandez’s whereabouts to come forward. Given the violent nature of the crime and the fact that he remains armed and dangerous, the public is advised not to approach him but to contact law enforcement immediately.

Community Impact and Legal Proceedings Ahead

The horrifying ordeal has left an indelible mark on the Garner community and surrounding areas. Residents have expressed shock and disbelief at the targeted violence that unfolded in their normally peaceful town. Community members and local organizations have begun rallying around the victims, offering support and solidarity as they recover from the traumatic event.

In the legal realm, the case is expected to proceed with intense scrutiny. The Duran Duran siblings are scheduled to return to court on May 16, where more details about the case are likely to emerge. Prosecutors may use the quick arrest, the suspects’ immigration status, and the coordinated nature of the attack to argue for maximum penalties.

Meanwhile, investigators continue to piece together the motives and planning behind the crime. The $1 million ransom demand suggests a premeditated and possibly personal motive. The fact that the kidnappers were willing to abduct a mother and her infant daughter in an effort to extort money points to a level of desperation or calculated criminal behavior that prosecutors are likely to emphasize during trial.

The case also raises questions about how the suspects knew the victims and why they believed the family had access to such a large sum of money. Although no formal statement has been released about the relationship between the accused and the victims, the detailed execution of the home invasion and kidnapping hints at prior knowledge or a personal grievance.

For now, the focus remains on bringing the final suspect to justice and ensuring that the victims receive the care and protection they need. The FBI continues its efforts to locate and apprehend Estrada-Hernandez and has made it clear that they will pursue all available leads.

The Duran Duran case is a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of criminal activity and the devastating impact it can have on innocent families. As the investigation unfolds and the trial progresses, the eyes of the community—and the nation—will remain fixed on the courtroom and the fate of the accused.
